The two covers Margaret Brundage produced in 1940 aren't her usual women-in-the-nip style. I assume this is because a few years before New York's mayor, Fiorello La Guardia, had brought in "decency" standards for magazines, which meant Weird Tales had to change its usual cover style.

The July cover is a bit ho-hum, but I love the November cover. Ghost dance partner! Irritated-looking live dance partner! Giant flouncy dress!!! It makes me want to read the story, which is the point of a good cover really.
